Fifteen Kilometers south west of Les Royautés lays the historical borough of Bourbon l’Archambault, it boasts shops, restaurants, a cinema, thermal baths, a casino and of course the ruin of the former castle which was once 16 towers strong.

Bourbon l’Archambault was the centre of the Bourbon dynasty and is well known for the ‘healing’ powers of its thermal spa. The baths were built in the 17th century, thanks to the duke of Orleans, a brother of Lodewijk XIII. Vichy and Néris-le-Bains, in the south of the Allier, are also well-known spa towns, Vichy is of course is a very famous for its potable mineral water.
